About the webinar: Potency ranking of PFAS using the ToxProfiler assay

Date: 28 November 2023, Thursday
Time: 4.00 PM, Central European TimePer- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), also known as “the forever compounds”, have the tendency to accumulate in organisms and their environment. Despite extensive in vitro and in vivo testing of PFAS, there is a remaining concern about safety of these chemicals. Therefore, some countries have proposed a ban on all PFAS. However, it is known that not all PFAS are equally toxic. ToxProfiler, our mechanistic toxicity assay, can potency rank chemicals (like PFAS) and therefore distinguish between high toxic chemicals and the low-toxic analogues.During the webinar, a ToxProfiler end-user will share their experience with the ToxProfiler assay. In the presented project, we applied ToxProfiler to rank eight PFAS. We investigated if there is a correlation with the carbon chain length of the chemical and its toxicity profile. Eventually the mechanistic data of the ToxProfiler assay was used to indicate the low toxicity of a 2-carbon PFAS.In this webinar, you will learn about:
– What ToxProfiler is and how it works.
– How ToxProfiler can be applied to unravel the toxicological Mode of Action (MoA) of PFAS.
– How ToxProfiler can be applied for chemical potency ranking.
