Toxys 2024 wrapped
2024 has been a year for exciting developments at Toxys. From ToxTracker OECD ring trial validation publication to launching ReproTracker 2.0 and MutaTracker, we are proud to have contributed to the shift towards utilizing New Approach Methodologies in toxicology. Let’s look back at some of these developments.
Toxys 10 years anniversary
A major milestone for Toxys this past year was concluding a chapter in our history. We have come far since our spin-off from the Leiden University Medical Center. Now, we are a scale-up company with a growing team based not only in Leiden Bio Science Park, but also in the US, and we are leading experts in developing and utilizing NAMs. Discover highlights from our history here.
ToxTracker updates on regulatory acceptance
In genetic toxicology, publishing ToxTracker data from the OECD ring trial validation was a major milestone for this assay, and its draft OECD guideline is currently under review. The ring trial validated ToxTracker’s transferability, robustness, reproducibility, as well as the accuracy to predict in vivo genotoxicity. Read the full press release on this validation here.
ReproTracker made higher throughput
Miniaturizing our assay ReproTracker that quantitatively predicts the teratogenic potential of compounds enabled lower compound requirements and faster reporting. This way, we accelerated animal-free developmental toxicity screening of compounds with the same assay sensitivity and specificity. Learn more on ReproTracker 2.0 here.
MutaTracker launch
The launch of MutaTracker, our all-in-one mammalian cell-based mutagenicity and genotoxicity assay, was another significant achievement. Together with our partner Mutgentech, we combined ToxTracker with error-corrected single-molecule mutation sequencing (SMM-seq) in a single workflow for mutagenicity and genotoxicity insights at an unmatched resolution. Learn all about our launch of MutaTracker here.
ToxProfiler publication: MoA assessment of 100 chemicals
In investigative toxicology, our peer reviewed publication on ToxProfiler highlighted its ability to provide toxicological mode-of-action insights. By testing 100 chemicals in ToxProfiler, we accurately separated primary toxicological cell responses from secondary/tertiary responses. We also grouped the chemicals based on their ToxProfiler toxicity signatures and linked them to specific pathologies. Learn more on our ToxProfiler publication here.
We certainly have more developments in the pipeline, and we look forward to sharing them with you early next year. You can also keep an eye on our events page for when you can meet us in 2025. First stop is SOT Annual Meeting & ToxExpo with a special Toxys NAMs Spotlight event. You can learn more about it here.
